2010 - 2011 Y.e.s. for arkansas winners
LITTLE ROCK, AR (January 14, 2011) – Winners of the sixth annual Y.E.S. for Arkansas statewide business plan competition for fifth to eighth graders were announced Friday, January 14, at McCain Mall in North Little Rock.
This year, 174 teams from across Arkansas created business plans for their own original business ideas, competing for the opportunity to turn their business ideas into reality.
The program is sponsored by the Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation (AEAF), an affiliate of the Arkansas Capital Corporation Group.
Announced in December the top 25 teams were charged with creating a comprehensive marketing brochure as well as a display booth to showcase their product or service. The finalists competed for prizes in four categories: business plan, innovation, marketing piece and retail display booth.
Winning team members for first-place teams in each category received a $100 cash prize. The teachers of the first-place teams took home an additional $500. Trophies were awarded for all first- through fourth-place winners in each category.
Arkansas’s Youth Entrepreneur Showcase Business Plan Competition was initiated in 2005 as a collaborative project for middle school students. Annually, more than 75 Arkansas business leaders have served as volunteer judges to assist in the selection of the qualifying team finalists.
“Every year I am amazed and impressed with the students’ clever and creative ideas, from the products themselves to the ways in which they propose to market them,” said Kerri Daniels, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation. "It renews my optimism about the entrepreneurial future of our state.”
